Peace Lutheran Church Leadership
All of our other members, as the need arises, step up-to-the-plate to provide leadership and assistance. We are family here at Peace--and all family members play an important part!
Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson
Pastor Jeff was born in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. A lifelong Lutheran, Jeff was graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree (history major). He received his Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1984 and was ordained that same year. His first parish was Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, where he served for 6+ years. After moving to Arizona, Jeff worked as a youth pastor at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Flagstaff (2 years) and later as the Lutheran Campus Ministry pastor at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff (9 years). Along with his wife, Mary, Jeff served as missionary in Papua New Guinea (2 years) and then in Guam (9 years), where he was the pastor at The Lutheran Church of Guam. The Johnsons moved to Holbrook at the beginning of 2012 where Jeff began his ministry at Peace Lutheran Church, a position he held for 7 years. Jeff retired in August of 2019 but following a 1+ year retirement/sabbatical, he resumed the pastorate at Peace in October of 2020. He and Mary have recently purchased a home in Holbrook, indicating their intent to settle-in to the community and resume the pastoral reins at Peace until God leads another pastor to shepherd the flock. The Johnsons have four children: Joseph, Matthew, Elizabeth and Andrew; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jeff enjoys reading, hiking, getting together with friends to play games, music and traveling.

Originally from Iowa, Vicki is a lifelong Lutheran (from a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod background) and has recently retired from a career as a registered nurse, most recently serving as the nurse-educator at the Little Colorado Medical Center in Winslow, where she lives. Hers is the cheerful voice of welcome at the start of each of our worship services! Vicki is one of a handful of members who travel from Winslow (30miles distance) each Sunday for worship and at other times for study, service and fellowship events. We appreciate this extra commitment from our Winslow folks!
Born in Mexico, Junior grew up in southern California and spent most of his adult years in Yuma, AZ. He is married to Kory and is the father of three all grown children. Junior manages the Love's Truck stop in nearby Joseph City. Junior and Kory are busy remodeling their recently purchased home in Holbrook.

A native of nearby Joseph City, Tim is a newly elected Council person, bringing with him a wealth of background in business and knowledge of our area. A traumatic head injury a few years ago gives Tim a renewed appreciation for God's life-giving grace. Tim is single. He keeps our grounds well-watered and looking good.
Newly elected to our Council is Jeff Hill, husband to Katie and, along with Katie, parent to five young adults. A native of Holbrook, Jeff has driven trains for the BNSF railroad for nearly 30 years. He also served as Holbrook's mayor for several years. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys woods work, cutting trees and delivering firewood to those in need.
We thank God for Yolanda's musical accompaniment each Sunday! With a master's degree in piano performance and years of experience, Yolanda is a huge blessing to our little congregation. A widow for several years, Yolanda's only child, Jason Michael, lives in far-away Tennessee, making Peace Yolanda's family.
Hailing from Wisconsin originally, Barbara and her husband Joe have been Holbrook residents for over fifty years. In fact, Barbara was one of the charter members of our congregation. Barbara does a marvelous job as our sacristan, taking care of our worship space. Barbara enjoys her large family and spends her spare time cross-stitching. Many of us are the recipients of Barbara's beautiful artistry!
